WHAT: The Companion Animal Protection Society celebrates a day of beauty and healing for you and your canine companion at Fresh Skincare and Makeup on Newbury Street. Stop by Fresh for a makeover and some samples while your canine enjoys a complimentary energy healing and foot reflexology session with Bryn Durham, a licensed massage therapist who has been practicing foot reflexology for 19 years and is also a master level Reiki energy practitioner. Polka Dog Bakery will be providing dog treats at the event.

About CAPS: In 1989 when Deborah Howard noticed the cramped and unsanitary conditions at a Docktor Pet Center she became enraged. The company had more than 300 franchises at the time. Ms. Howard joined forces with Robert Baker, the foremost puppy mill investigator in the country. Theses investigative efforts generated two ABC "20/20" exposes and articles in both People and Life Magazine. These exposes took on the pet shop industry head on producing an ABC 20/20 piece, as well as, coverage in both Life Magazine and People Magazine in which Docktor was named directly; and showed the horrors of puppy mills. As a result of their efforts, Docktor Pet Centers, who refused to do business without the sale of puppies, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in February 1993. Ms. Howard started CAPS in 1992. Mr. Baker is CAPS vice-president.
