Technology PR:

Farmingdale, NY July 29, 2008 - Balancing the needs of datacenter computing power requirements with facilities power consumption restrictions is often a challenge for datacenter IT professionals. To provide more flexible power deployment and greater power management and monitoring for mission-critical datacenter environments both in North America and Europe, AFCO Systems is introducing a new generation of its power distribution solutions. The new trio of power distribution solutions - Basic, Metered and Smart - is engineered to meet the application-specific needs of datacenter server enclosures and network racks. They seamlessly integrate with AFCO enclosures, Sidecar cable management and AFCO Resource Manager software. More information is available at http://www.afcosystems.com/power.htm

The weakest point of many datacenter designs is the optimization of power, cooling, and cable plant management at the enclosure level where computing equipment resides. This greatly impacts the overall performance and cost of operating a datacenter. AFCO Systems' next-generation of smart outlet-level monitoring power solutions can be integrated with its scalable datacenter enclosures, providing the granular information and coordination necessary to take action at the enclosure level. These new power distribution units also offer the flexibility and reliability needed for today's demanding datacenter environments.

Basic PDU Series
This series delivers a datacenter-grade strip where monitoring and communication are not necessary. It is designed with vertical power distribution to deliver maximum power in a low-profile chassis.

Metered PDU Series
This series enables datacenter professionals to locally monitor and display aggregate utilization of the PDU. It offers multiple configurations to satisfy a variety of applications and features easy management and monitoring for current power requirements and future expansion.

Smart PDU Series
This series enables real-time, remote power management, not just static monitoring. It delivers local and networked monitoring of power utilization of both the aggregate PDU amperage and the individual receptacle amperage when integrated with AFCO Resource Manager software. In addition, the series supports both Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and HTML. The series is available in two levels of Smart Power strips:
• Aggregate - for power consumption monitoring locally at the strip level (load/phase).
• Receptacle - for power consumption monitoring to the individual receptacle.

Seamless integration enables datacenter professionals to measure, monitor and manage the real-time requirements of power availability, amperage consumption and load balancing.

"With the introduction of our new power distribution solutions, we are providing our worldwide customers with greater control over their datacenter power and cooling environments," said Jerry Becker, AFCO Systems president. "Our customers have enthusiastically embraced the new solutions. We had a recent contract win with a European financial services company where power consumption management was a key requirement."

About AFCO Systems
AFCO Systems is a global leader in the design and manufacture of scalable enclosure technology for mission-critical datacenter environments. It has the one of the largest globally installed bases of active, air-cooled, high-density (5-8 kW) and extreme high-density (up to 20 kW) server and network cabinets. AFCO Systems' active airflow control technique, delivered through its KOOL-IT™ brand of technologies and services, provides cost-effective datacenter cooling in accordance with ASHRAE standards. This enables datacenter operators to measure, manage, monitor, and maintain their overall energy efficiency.
