Dental care has certainly changes over the past 50 years. I remember reading a road sign while traveling "BE TRUE TO YOUR TEETH AND THEY WONT BE FALSE TO YOU!" There are many reasons "Why" people dont go to a dentist. After practicing dentistry for many years it has become apparent that for a chosen few, good dental health is important. For the remaining population, good dental care and good dental health is not a priority in their life. "When in doubt, pull it out!"
Why do so many people shudder at the thought of going to the dentist? One simple answer is FEAR. When I was about seven, I went to our family dentist who was older than God. When he finished extracting 7 baby teeth, I actually got a chance to "lock him in his darkroom"! I kiddingly tell patients that I became a dentist for revenge! Actually, I am very sensitive to patients fears and work very closely with them to help control their anxiety.
Will my insurance pay for my dental care?
This is always a tough question. Or when we hear "I only want what my insurance pays for", we as dental professionals are put in an unfavorable position. To answer these questions, your employer pays for the plan. An insurance company administers it. If you have insurance questions address them to your employer or the person in charge of insurance at your place of employment.
