San Francisco, CA May 7, 2008 -- Salesforce.com Europe Dreamforce Conference - May 7th, 2008 - Webcom, Inc. today announced that Applied Microsystems LTD (AML) has successfully deployed WebSource CPQ via salesforce.com's AppExchange. Bridging the gap from opportunity to order, WebSource CPQ allows Applied Microsystems to configure, price, quote and propose their offerings across multiple sales and distribution channels anytime, anywhere. WebSource CPQ is designed to help drive increased revenues and margins, increased customer satisfaction, reduced costs and improved productivity. Leveraging salesforce.com's Force.com platform, WebSource CPQ for AppExchange is available for test drive and deployment at http://www.salesforce.com/appexchange. The announcement was made today at Dreamforce Europe, salesforce.com's User and Developer Conference.

For 34 years, Applied Microsystems has manufactured underwater sensors for the freshwater, oceanographic and geophysical industries. The company - located in the Ocean Technology cluster in Sidney, British Columbia, on Canada's Pacific coast - has an impressive history of innovation. Founded in 1974, Applied Microsystems originally manufactured CTDs for the oceanographic industry. In 1986, the company realized that CTDs represented an imperfect way to measure the speed of sound in water. Spotting an opportunity, Applied Microsystems developed the first ever time-of-flight measurement instrument for sound velocity and is still the market leader in that area sixteen years later. Applied Microsystems brought to market the first underwater mass spectrometer, arguably the most powerful underwater measuring machine in the world. More recently, Applied Microsystems engineered and delivered the industry's first truly field-swappable sound velocity sensor.

"We have been using WebSource CPQ integrated with Salesforce for several months now and are pleased not only with the ease of deployment, but also the ease of use as our sales team develops quotes and proposals," stated Robert Haydock, President of Applied Microsystems. "We are excited as we enter into phase two of our deployment, which is incorporating the solution into our website and enabling customer self-quoting," added Haydock.

"Customers, such as Applied Microsystems, leverage their investment in Salesforce by extending opportunity management into quote and proposal management with WebSource CPQ," said Chris Lesar, Webcom executive vice president. "It is the right tool for the right purpose: ease of configuration and pricing for the sales teams and completeness of forecasting and reporting for management," added Lesar.

"The thousands of installs of different SaaS applications clearly demonstrate the incredible momentum of the AppExchange as the world's on-demand application marketplace," said Clarence So, Chief Marketing Officer, salesforce.com. "With WebSource CPQ, customers of all sizes can extend their Salesforce implementations with pricing, quoting and configuration to improve mission critical business operations."

WebSource CPQ addresses the complexities raised by multiple product and service choices, sales hierarchy, discounting rules, pricing rules and multiple channels, whether a business is selling complicated equipment, software or services. Companies automate quoting, revisions, the approval process, as well as leverage guided-selling and self-service applications. With WebSource CPQ, companies:

  • Move effortlessly from opportunity to order.
  • Simplify the sales process and configure, price, quote and propose product/service offerings across all channels, anytime, anywhere.
  • Generate any document on demand without any duplication of effort or data.
  • Drive increased revenues and margins, increased customer satisfaction, reduced costs and improved productivity.
