San Francisco, CA May 2, 2008 -- BitRock announced today the addition of Solaris support for the easy to install open source software packages on www.bitnami.org, a site built to help spread the adoption of freely available, high quality open source web applications. BitNami Stacks are ready-to-run packages that make it easy to get started with open source applications by automating the installation and configuration process. They enable even non-technical users to have open source applications, such as blogging platforms, bug-trackers, content management, portals, wikis and more in less than five minutes.

BitNami Stacks for Solaris include Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla! and MediaWiki. SAMPStack, an easy to install distribution of Apache, MySQL and PHP for Solaris, is also available from BitNami.org. Each Stack is released as open source under the terms of the Apache 2.0 License, allowing users to download and use the Stacks free of charge.

BitNami also hosts several other stacks for Linux, Windows and OS X that are not yet available for Solaris, including: DokuWiki, KnowledgeTree, Liferay, Alfresco, phpBB, Redmine, Roller, Trac, and WordPress. In addition to the BitNami application stacks, several developer stacks are available for frameworks such as Django, Ruby on Rails and JRuby. Solaris versions of the BitNami developer and application stacks will be released over the next few months.
