"We used to use Symantec's Corporate Edition Anti-Virus on our workstations," noted Myers. "But when our licenses ran out, we were told by Symantec that we would have to switch to the pricier Symantec Endpoint Security solution. We're design software people, not security experts, so we figured we could trust their recommendation and we went ahead and upgraded our workstations to the new product. That's when we started to see problems."

Those problems manifested themselves as email and network connectivity issues. Clearly, the company could not continue to function effectively with an unreliable communications infrastructure, so Myers determined it was time to start looking for a different solution -- one that didn't interfere with their work, and didn't bust their budget.

Wanted: Affordable Anti-Virus Software That Doesn't Get in the Way of Business

Myers and his team at Andromeda tapped into their network of outside IT contractors to help them find a better solution for their virus protection requirements.

"We interviewed three contractors who specialized in providing companies with anti-virus software and support," Myers said. "We were surprised to find that all three companies recommended the same solution -- AVG Anti-Virus Network Edition. They all agreed that AVG was the best choice for robust, unobtrusive protection against viruses, spyware and other web-borne threats."

Myers reviewed the proposed cost of switching to AVG and found that, not only was the software the IT experts' choice -- it was also a far less expensive solution than Symantec.

"When we decided on one of the three candidates as our preferred IT contractor, our first request was that they switch us over to AVG right away."

"By observing how out contractor worked with Walling, I could see that the software was going to be pretty easy to manage, but also that the technicians at Walling Data were extremely knowledgeable about the product," Myers said.

I was very impressed to learn that Walling Data's support staff is all US-based, as well. You don't see much of that anymore. So I'm confident that, if ever I have a problem and the contractor is not available, I can call the guys at Walling and get the help I need."
