Five Hard-Rocking Band Members Get a Chance to Perform Beside Rock Legends
San Francisco, CA, August 13 2009California rockers Diamond Lane will be opening for Aerosmith and ZZ Top at the 2009 Bone Bash X on Wednesday, August 19th, the tenth annual Bone Bash sponsored by Bay Area rock station 107.7 The Bone. Diamond Lane beat out eleven other finalists in 107.7 The Bones Battle of the Bands concert, winning the most fan votes and earning the chance to play beside two of the greatest rock legends of all time.
Diamond Lane consists of Brandon Baumann on lead vocals, Jarret Reis and Ruckus on guitar, Ray Rayzor on bass, and Bryant Gifford on drums. With a median age of 22, the band members converged with the goal of emphasizing the quality of songwriting and musicianship and letting their music do the talking. Brandon, who grew up in San Jose, CA and Seattle, WA, names Steven Tyler, Jeff Scott Soto and Layne Staley as his main influences; who would have guessed hed get to rock beside one of his top three so soon? Bassist Ray comes all the way from China and says hes been rocking out to KISS since before I knew English. Bryant is from Los Lunas, New Mexico, and plays the drums like a maniac (his own words). He names Aerosmith as his number one influence and cant wait to share the stage with them.
Diamond Lane released their debut four-song EP, Save This City, in 2008 via iTunes. According to Encyclopedia Metallum (www.metal-archives.com), the EP lays any and all competition to waste as far as recapturing that good [rock] soundthe songwriting is right on par with the stuff from the genres heyday. The reviewer adds that the mix of heavy metal and rock adds diversity and push[es] the boundaries of the genre. All four songs, from the heavy riffs of Bite the Bullet, I Got Nothing, and One More Minute to the ballad Lonely Road, are pulled off with major label quality production and a polished yet still kickass sound.
Diamond Lane plans to follow up Save This City with their first full-length release, World Without Heroes, in 2009. In the meantime, the band has cut their teeth with fan-filled performances at such legendary Hollywood venues as The Key Club, The Whisky-a-Go-Go, and The Viper Room. And that performing experience came in handy at the Battle of the Bands, where, according to 107.7 The Bone, the band gathered a tremendous amount of votes and was able to impress our judges with their sound, stage presence and crowd appeal. The San Jose Live Music Examiner also called Diamond Lane the standout band at Battle of the Bands, where they left people with bloody eardrums and shattered chest cavities.
