San Francisco, CA April 29, 2008 -- ARX (Algorithmic Research), a leading provider of digital signatures (standard electronic signatures) and information assurance solutions, has been chosen to implement a CoSign® digital signature solution at MEDRAD (a subsidiary of Bayer AG), a worldwide provider of medical devices and services.

Approximately 100 field service representatives maintain MEDRAD's cardiovascular and angiography diagnostic and therapeutic imaging medical systems throughout the world. These field reps are required by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation to generate a signed service report for all field service work performed. MEDRAD's CRM generates these field reports, and multiple copies are then printed for signing. Over the course of a year, tens of thousands of field service reports are generated, signed, shipped, and archived. In order to alleviate such a cost-prohibitive and labor intensive process, MEDRAD decided to implement the use of a digital signature solution, which would allow them to maintain a completely electronic workflow. CoSign's compatibility with all major documentation formats provided the perfect solution to MEDRAD's digital signature needs.

Upon CoSign's full implementation at MEDRAD, the company's field service representatives will document their maintenance work in reports created by the CRM. The report will automatically be turned into a PDF and saved to a folder on their local PC. Later in the week, or when it's convenient, the representative will be able to digitally batch sign all of their reports at once, and have them automatically saved to the network drive in an FDA 21 CFR Part 11-compliant manner. The Cosign digital signature solution will completely eliminate the need to print, sign, ship, and physically archive service reports, reducing a two week process into one that can be completed in a minute.

Rodd Shlerf, Sales Manager at ARX said, "We find that medical device companies have many processes that can benefit from CoSign. Field service reports are a great example of a regulated, large volume, paper-intensive process costing organizations huge amounts of money and more importantly - people's time."

Angela Gasper, IT Project Manager at MEDRAD explained, "Through our use of CoSign's digital signature solution, MEDRAD expects to significantly cut costs in shipping, paper-related products, and workload." Gasper added that, "Additionally, ARX's experienced technical staff worked closely with us to customize our application for batch signing of reports, allowing our field service representatives to concentrate on work, not paperwork."
