Hanover, New Hampshire May 3, 2008 -- Dynamic Clinical Systems (DCS) has enhanced its industry-leading Integrated Survey System® (ISS) to include outcomes for pain management. Linked to this advance, the Pain Management Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, a long-standing DCS collaborator, became one of only six APS Center of Excellence awardees among fifty applicants.

The ISS Pain module contains more than 10,000 Pain patient and clinician outcomes questionnaires from the first year of use alone. ISS houses similar data for hundreds of thousands of patient interactions across disciplines, including Spine, Orthopaedics, Oncology, and others, and makes the data available to authorized clinical users.

"The data is immediately available to physicians for assessment of pain and mood scores," said Dr. Gilbert J. Fanciullo, the Center's director and lead clinical contributor to the Pain module. "This private and completely confidential tool helps quantify the multifaceted impact of chronic pain and how much it is limiting overall functionality at home, work, and in social relationships."

Fanciullo went on to say that the collaboration between Dartmouth-Hitchcock and DCS was a key to the Center's winning this prestigious APS award. In its award announcement, APS noted that the "huge" Pain database, provided by DCS, was instrumental in landing a $10 million grant to build a palliative care facility at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

DCS Chief Executive, Chris Weiss, said "Dr. Fanciullo and I have long been looking forward to providing this type of cutting-edge solution to Pain patients. DCS is enormously proud of its broad collaboration with Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Fueled by the innovative research and development we do together, DCS has deployed its secure Web-based solutions to nearly 20 leading institutions around the United States."

Weiss added that both the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have provided research funding to DCS to further its work in multi-disciplinary patient-reported outcomes.
