9 March 2009 The top holiday destinations this Easter are Switzerland, Florida and Portugal, according to leading Internet car hire price comparator Carrentals.co.uk, with Brits heading away from the UKs cold weather and economic gloom.
The website, which has this year marked a 15% rise in advance Easter bookings, also reports that tourists are booking car hire for longer spells of seven, nine, twelve and fourteen days rather than the usual Easter break of a long weekend.
Managing director of Carrentals.co.uk, Gareth Robinson, comments, There has definitely been a marked shift in booking habits this Easter, as travellers appear to be escaping the UKs weather and gloomy economy. As such, people are booking longer trips to favourite destinations like Switzerland, the Algarve and Florida as well as different places like the Atlantic Coast in Portugal.
Availability on hire cars can still be had, but for particular items like people carriers or child seats, travellers should book in advance after comparing prices online this is the way to get the best deals.
