First Quartile Consulting is a focused utility benchmarking and consulting firm that conducts large-scale benchmark studies, collecting substantial amounts of data through a questionnaire process, and delivering reports and analytics through a series of data analysis and summary steps. The thousands of survey results, which can contain upwards of 5,000 data points, were analyzed using an inefficient, labor-intensive process.
The company retained Gatesix to develop an automated application that would interface with its existing third-party survey application. This custom, web-based solution needed to automate the importing of survey data and allow for easy data manipulation and detailed reporting. First Quartile's Debi McLain states "During our very first meeting with Gatesix, we were impressed. When they presented their vision for the project it was spot-on and offered functionality we never dreamed possible."
The new application is already saving First Quartile a tremendous amount of time; allowing for easier data import, manipulation, analysis and reporting. According to Debi, the new software has dramatically changed productivity and has simplified their entire process. She explains that her clients are looking forward to Phase III of the project, currently scheduled for 2009, which will enable them to use a web interface to query their own custom reports.
