Mountain View, CA May 28, 2008 -- Caspio, Inc. (www.caspio.com), provider of the leading web-based point-and-click platform for creating web applications, today announced that McClatchy Interactive has adopted Caspio Bridge to deliver more traffic to its websites and monetize its database assets.

The nation's third-largest newspaper company is adopting Caspio Bridge as a rapid database and application building platform for its websites after a string of successful deployments by The Sacramento Bee, The Miami Herald, The Kansas City Star, The Charlotte Observer, and The Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"Public databases drive traffic, which in turn drives revenue," said David A. Milliron, Caspio's vice president of media services. "Caspio's online database tools are enabling McClatchy to drive tremendous traffic to its websites by publishing interactive applications."

The Sacramento Bee recently used Caspio Bridge to deploy a public salary database of California state employees. The database, compiled by Sacramento Bee staff writer Phillip Reese, has generated more than 6 million hits since its launch. "It's the most successful thing we've had on the news side," Reese said.

In addition to searchable databases, McClatchy's sites are using Caspio Bridge to power The Miami Herald's online store, collect user-submitted recipes at The Charlotte Observer, and research political candidates with The Fort Worth Star-Telegram's interactive voter guide.

"Nearly every major news organization in America relies on Caspio to help them leverage their unique brand position, powerful local content, and exceptional promotional abilities on the Internet," Milliron said. "Caspio is excited to bring McClatchy aboard to help its online news sites command more traffic and revenue."
