Virginia Beach, VA August 27, 2008 -- Navan Foods, the unique store with a focus on selling specially formulated foods, has launched a new website that provides customers with the ability to shop online. The rise in diets that require specially formulated foods due to food allergies or other disorders like Celiac Sprue or Autism has spurred the need for a store like Navan Foods.
Up until now, the company's reach has been limited to the Hampton Roads area. Jennifer Elizondo, founder of Navan Foods, says, "We did not plan to launch this so soon, but the response to the store has been incredible with many requests to have online purchasing capability. We are excited to be able to extend our help with special diets nationally."
Navan Foods' concept is to provide shoppers with point of sale information regarding product ingredients and the manufacturing environment. The website, designed by 3 Waves Media, follows the store's concept by providing a wealth of information about food products using the company's distinctive icon system to denote "Made Without" ingredients (i.e., gluten free, peanut free, etc.), healthy options, and other special diet information like whether the product is Organic or Kosher.
In addition, Navan Foods gives customers the option of donating one percent of their sales to select national non-profit groups that are helping improve the lives of individuals affected by special diets. These groups include The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), Kids with Food Allergies (KFA), American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders (APFED), and the Celiac Disease Foundation (CDF). "It is important for our company to give back to the communities that support us. These groups are out there fighting to alleviate the daily challenges with which our customers contend and are providing support networks for individuals."
