San Ramon, CA April 30, 2008 - OutSystems, provider of the industry leading 'all in one' Agile Platform for rapid delivery and management of web business applications that are built for continuous change, today named Mike W. Jones to the new role of vice president of worldwide marketing. Reporting to OutSystems CEO Paulo Rosado, Jones will lead all global marketing initiatives and drive positioning of OutSystems as a global brand.
Most recently, Jones served as vice president of marketing for McLaren Software, where he was responsible for all aspects of marketing on a worldwide basis.
"Agile development continues to gain momentum and the OutSystems Agile Platform was built from the ground-up with agile software development and service oriented architectures in mind. This combination positions us for rapid growth around the globe," said Rosado. "Mike's expertise in marketing and his background in application development methods and tools will play a vital role in OutSystems' expansion and bid for leadership in the Dynamic Business Applications market."
Jones brings more than 20 years of marketing and information technology experience to OutSystems. Prior to his role at McLaren Software, Jones held senior marketing positions at Citadel Security Software, BMC Software, Sterling Software, and Texas Instruments. Jones started his career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as a systems engineer.
Jones has spent the majority of his career in the applications development space beginning as an application developer with EDS where he was first introduced to development methodologies and tools. He then worked for Texas Instruments where he helped them grow their CASE tools
When Sterling Software acquired the software business form Texas Instruments, Jones directed a new product line that contained object-oriented design tools based on early versions of RUP and developed new solutions specifically for the design and delivery of component based applications. In late 1999, Jones and his team were delivering a new development platform to design and generate Java applications based on the emerging EJB technologies when Computer Associates acquired Sterling Software.
"The combination of the agile development method and the OutSystems platform for developing, deploying, monitoring and maintaining web business applications that leverage a company's investment in service oriented architectures promises to be the next step in the evolution of enterprise application development," said Jones. "OutSystems' impressive customer success record speaks to the quality and robustness of the method and platform and will be invaluable as we take OutSystems to new markets around the world."
