This release is mainly about the worlds greatest flamenco guitarist: Paco De Lucia. A short history and the main reasons he is the best are discussed within. Even with the accent on Paco, attention is not withdrawn from other great flamenco guitarists like Sabicas.
"Thanks to his rigorous training of 4-10 hours a day since the age of 7, Paco De Lucia has taken most techniques at another level, especially the picados. Many ask how Paco De Lucia plays picado so fast, the only answer is practice, huge amounts of practice. This makes one wonder if there will be any other flamenco guitarist to match his level. This is not to say that Paco De Lucia flamenco is the one and only, there are many other great flamenco guitar players like Paco Pena, Vicente Amigo and Gerardo Nunez, each of them has created a different style of flamenco, thus ensuring diversity in this art" Hober explains.
The list of achievements is long for Paco De Lucia, as he has done numerous world-wide tours, visiting most of the existent countries. The most important group he has been in is the guitar trio Al Di Meola, John Mclaughlin and, naturally, Paco De Lucia. The jazz-flamenco fusion was of great effect as the trio traveled around the world embalming the world with their music.
For Paco, being in this trio has helped him a lot. While his technique was excellent, he sort of lacked in inspiration, and John and Al Di have tremendous resource; of which they gave Paco plenty. At some point he stated that "I was awake all night trying to find my solos, while Al Di and John were sleeping without stress; they had it all mapped in their heads, they didnt need to study their solos".
