Vancouver, BC June 15, 2008 -- QArchive.org announces changes to its submission acceptance policy for new and existing software titles. The changes will facilitate a safer environment for our valued visitors and a better, higher quality marketplace for software developers distributing their products through our online channels. The changes include numerous automatic filters such as anti-virus and spyware checks, as well as manual approval for every new and existing software title submitted to QArchive.

In order to facilitate a safer download environment, QArchive encourages publishers and owners of software download archives to use the filtered QArchive PAD Database that only contains approved titles. The new PAD repository includes only select products, and guarantees that there are no virus- or spyware-infected downloads. Manual reviewing of each submission ensures that there are no illegal, inappropriate or fake products.

The new design of QArchive.org underlines the importance of the steps we take to make QArchive a better and safer place. With extensive automatic and manual analysis performed to every submission, new and existing, QArchive ensures that only top-quality products remain in our database. Automatic anti-virus and anti-spyware checks ensure the absence of known malicious code in the products we are offering for download, while the advanced Bayes analysis of code, text descriptions and originator's Web site help get rid of illegal and inappropriate products.

As a final quality assurance check, each product is reviewed by the team of professional moderators, helping QArchive to get rid of malware that slips through automatic checks. If QArchive filters a product by mistake, its developer can always submit an appeal request that will be handled by one of the appointed moderators.

Currently, QArchive has processed 44,800 unique submissions. Nearly 1,500 (3%) of them were infected with viruses or spyware, over 32,000 (73%) were considered inappropriate for various reasons, and only about 10,800 (24%) were published on QArchive.

To promote a safer download environment all over the Web, QArchive is about to offer its entire filtered database of PAD files to every publisher or developer of software download archives. QArchive PAD repository will be available to everyone at no charge.

About QArchive
QArchive is in the Top-5 of software download archives by the number of daily visitors. Being the first software download archive to manually check every submission for viruses and spyware, QArchive uses a commercial antivirus product in order to create a truly safe download environment to our valued visitors, while providing a safer and more credible marketplace to publishers and software developers.

Visitors, software developers and publishers are encouraged to visit http://www.qarchive.org/ for more information.
