Technology PR:

Embedded Systems Conference, San Jose, CA April 15, 2008 -- Quadros Systems, Inc., a leading provider of real-time operating systems (RTOS) today announced first-time support for the Luminary Micro Stellaris family of microcontrollers (MCUs). Now, developers looking to move to the Stellaris family of processors can access the flexibility and power of the RTXC Quadros RTOS, VisualRTXC design tool, RTXCusb software, and the rest of the RTXC software family.

The RTXC Quadros RTOS is known for efficiency and high performance in a minimal memory footprint. The RTXCusb SDK simplifies the effort to add USB to embedded devices with a complete suite of stacks and USB class drivers. And the new VisualRTXC design tool offers dramatic time-savings in developing embedded applications based on the RTXC Quadros RTOS. This combination is especially valuable for engineers who are designing their first 32-bit application on a platform such as Stellaris.

"We are excited to have Quadros Systems join the software ecosystem for Stellaris microcontrollers," said Jean Anne Booth, Chief Marketing Officer of Luminary Micro, Inc. "The RTXC family of software products, with its flexibility, ease of use and small footprint, is well-suited to current users of 8- and 16-bit MCUs who are looking to migrate to Stellaris and Cortex-M3."

"Luminary Micro has made a big impact on the embedded industry in a short time," commented Stephen Martin, vice president of sales and marketing for Quadros Systems. "They have aggressively staked out a strong position with a large family of 32-bit processors that are price-competitive with 8- and 16- bit MCUs. Our support for Stellaris microcontrollers is a logical extension of our expertise in ARM cores and gives our customers new and powerful hardware choices."

Quadros support for the Stellaris MCU family comes on the heels of Luminary Micros announcement of thirty new Stellaris family members built on the ARM Cortex-M3 architecture. Quadros offers specific support for the Stellaris LM3S3748 and LM3S3768 evaluation kits. Each feature-rich evaluation kit includes evaluation boards, all required cables, evaluation tools suites for popular development tools, documentation, the Stellaris Peripheral Driver Library, Stellaris Graphics Library, applications notes, and everything a developer needs to get up and running in 10 minutes. Quadros is providing a downloadable demo version of its multi-stack RTOS, RTXC/ms, along with the recently introduced productivity tool, VisualRTXC. VisualRTXC is a graphically based design and configuration tool that delivers on the promise of case tools without the usual drawbacks by implementing simple design concepts and coupling the tool to the RTXC RTOS. Support for USB is also available.

Quadros Systems customers can select the embedded development tool that best fits their needs. RTXC products are available with support for the IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM (EWARM) and the RealView Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK-ARM) from Keil.

About Luminary Micro and Stellaris
Luminary Micro, Inc. designs, markets and sells ARM Cortex-M3-based microcontrollers (MCUs). Austin, Texas-based Luminary Micro is the lead partner for the Cortex-M3 processor, delivering the worlds first silicon implementation of the Cortex-M3 processor. Luminary Micros introduction of the award-winning Stellaris family of products provides 32-bit performance for the same price as current 8- and 16-bit microcontroller designs, providing entry-level pricing at $1.00 for an ARM technology-based MCU. Stellaris mixed-signal microcontrollers contain specialized capabilities for applications in energy, security, and connectivity markets. With the worlds largest selection of ARM-based microcontrollers, Luminary Micros Stellaris family allows for standardization that eliminates future architectural upgrades or software tools changes.

About the RTXC Quadros Family of Real-time Operating Systems
The RTXC Quadros family is comprised of four kernel architectures offering distinct performance advantages for each of the major processing models. RTXC/ss (single stack) utilizes a lightweight specialized executive to support high data rate and signal processing applications. RTXC/ms (multi-stack) is optimized for control processing using an event-driven, prioritized, preemptive scheduler. RTXC/dm (dual mode) marries RTXC/ms and RTXC/ss and is ideal for convergent processing applications which combine DSP/dataflow and RISC/control processing in a single-core processor. Both RTXC/ms and RTXC/dm are brought together under RTXC/mp (multiprocessing) in various combinations to support multi-core and multiprocessor implementations.

About Quadros, Systems, Inc.
