San Jose May 22, 2008 -- The fourth annual Semantic Technology Conference (SemTech) concluded at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel today, having drawn more than 1,000 attendees from 35 countries -- an increase of 30% from last year's attendance.

SemTech is the world's largest annual gathering of users, technologists, publishers, developers, specialists, innovators, and entrepreneurs targeting comprehensive, real-world business applications using semantic technologies.

From social networks and mashups to linked data and semantic wikis to Resource Oriented Architectures (ROA) and Web 3.0, more than four dozen sessions showcased the commercial capabilities of semantic technologies across enterprise, financial services, health care, publishing, government, and semantic SOA applications. The sharp rise in use of semantic technologies was evident in more than two dozen industry announcements and international product debuts launched at the event.

"This is an extremely exciting time, with major developments by leaders such as Yahoo!, Thomson Reuters, Oracle, and MySpace at the forefront of the industry," said Tony Shaw, Semantic Universe President and SemTech Co-Chair. "As THE industry event for both those implementing and shaping the future of semantic technologies, we're delighted with the results of this year's SemTech conference."
