26th May 2009: TalkTalk, the home phone and broadband company, has launched a service that dramatically cuts the cost and hassle of setting up a broadband connection once youve moved house.
The TalkTalk Home Mover Service costs just 29.99 for existing TalkTalk customers and 59.99 for customers new to TalkTalk. This is significantly lower than the previous cost 120 imposed by BT.
Until now, anyone moving house in a non-cable area would have to sign up to BT first before they could switch to another supplier. This was an arduous process that meant existing TalkTalk customers, for instance, would have to end their current contract, sign up to BT for a 12 months contract in their new property, and then immediately cancel it to switch back to TalkTalk, thereby incurring a 120 charge.
Under the new Home Mover service, TalkTalk will arrange the provision of their service in a new property, taking the hassle out of the situation for customers.
Wendy Becker, MD of TalkTalk, said: "Customers have more than enough to worry about when moving home, so were pleased to be able to take the hassle and a lot of the cost out of the process of getting your home phone and broadband up and running."
Existing TalkTalk customers should contact TalkTalk on 0870 444 1820 as soon as they have a moving in date at least 14 days before they move. New customers can call 0800 049 1424 to register for the Home Mover scheme.
