New York, NY June 2, 2008 -- The little boy who wanted to be Clark Gable, Sergio Arras, a New York based actor, plays the part of a Mexican immigrant in Vagon (Boxcar), now at Repertorio Espanol, (137 east 27th St, New York, NY). A few years ago Arras was a high-appointed Government Officer at the Treasury, in Mexico City. The Mexican born actor quit his successful career to pursue his heart-dream: To be an actor in New York. He says, "Since childhood, I wanted to be an actor! My idol was Clark Gable. At the age of ten I learned to drive a car, a Beetle, and also to smoke, wanting to portray him."

Vagon tells the story of four Mexicans immigrants, crossing the Mexican/U.S. Border in a Boxcar in search of a better life. Unlike in the play, Sergio comes from an affluent and well known family - prominent politicians and successful entrepreneurs - from Sinaloa and Chihuahua, where he grew up. He studied business in New York City and Paris, France, and lived in Mexico City, at the trendiest neighborhood, La Condesa.

Arras confesses, "My change of lifestyle is still a matter of profound wonder. A former colleague teased me, she said, 'Government Official lowers his pants before an audience!' This is in reference to a scene from the play Boxcar when, by orders of an Immigration Officer, I lower my pants."

Sergio moved to New York City in 2004 to study at Lee Strasberg and William Esper Studio and currently lives in Gramercy Park. He spends his days taking acting, audition, speech, and movement classes; rehearses scenes and attends auditions. To stay in shape trains at Equinox and can be seen at the National Arts Club or jogging in the neighborhood with Gordo, his inseparable poodle.

In New York, he has worked on numerous student films and also in a professional short film 'La Chiva', NALIP winner, written and directed by Akiva Penaloza. He just was offered a lead role on Akiva's new 'short' for HBO Latino Film Festival.

"It takes complete commitment and discipline. I can not afford to be distracted; all I have in my heart is to land parts in film and T.V. It's an adventure and a spiritual journey."
