PowerUSB COMPUTER CONTROLLED POWER STRIP
Conserve Power, Control Peripherals for Automation

Houston, TX; July 1st 2010 PowerUSB has introduced a power strip that can be controlled through computer USB port. The device conserves power by switching off the devices when not used, thus eliminating the vampire power consumed by idle devices. The device also can be used as a home/industrial automation device to switch on/off lights and other devices through software remotely.
Typical computer peripherals such as printers, scanners etc are left switched on all the time even when they are used sparingly. These devices consume vampire power in their idle state. This consumption can add up to hundreds of dollars through power wastage. The PowerUSB power strip eliminates this power loss and conserves energy. Sparingly used printer is switched on automatically only when a document is printed. The peripherals are left in off state when computer is off.
The PowerUSB can also be used as an automation device where the lights or other peripherals are switched on/off when needed. The software provides interface to control the outlet state. The user can control these devices from the connected computer or remotely through computer connected in the network. The existing automation (both home and industrial automation) devices in the market require wiring skills and software configuration knowledge. The PowerUSB is designed as an end user product with simple interface and simple plug and play setup. Software API is also provided to control the PowerUSB through third party software.
The PowerUSB comes with four outlets out of which two are always on and can be used for computer and monitor. The other two outlets can be switched on and off through the software control using USB port. These two outlets can be made to be default on or off state when computer is powered on, further state changed through software. The outlets are world socket that can take any countrys standard plugs and are provided with child safety gates. Individual fuses are provided for the power strip. The PowerUSB ships with the Power strip, USB cable and control software.
