New Orleans, LA July 21, 2008 -- TheSLAgency, an interactive marketing agency specializing in Second Life and virtual worlds, will be presenting at this year's National Conference of State Legislatures taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana this week. Leigh Rowan, VP of Interactive Marketing for the virtual worlds marketing firm, will discuss innovative ways governments are using virtual worlds for everything from internal meetings and collaboration to external public awareness campaigns, job recruitment, and more. His presentation will take place Friday, July 25, 2008 at 8 a.m. as a part of the panel 'A New Life for Online Government.'

TheSLAgency has worked with both The World Bank and The Ontario Public Service in Second Life, allowing both organizations to reach new interested audiences through interactive events and presences. Rowan's presentation will cover the case studies of innovative work TheSLAgency has done with both clients, as well as discuss future plans for each.

In addition, Rowan will discuss the wide array of potential uses of virtual worlds for online government that include interactive job recruitment, emergency planning and scenario training, virtual collaboration, and much more. National, state and local governments have all taken an interest in how Second Life and virtual worlds can benefit their organizations and constituencies, and several examples of such benefits will be showcased.

Also presenting on the panel are experts from the Alabama Department of Homeland Security and the Chief Deputy of the Utah State Senate. The panel will be moderated by Mark Stencel, the Editor and Deputy Publisher of Governing Magazine.
