Hebden Bridge in the beautiful South Pennines is the first place in Britain to hold the Walkers Are Welcome accolade.

The area has plenty of enjoyable, pleasant walks to suit all tastes and these are being celebrated during the towns Walkers Are Welcome Weekend which takes place from 12 13 September 2009.

The weekend sees 30 different walks, the majority of them free, taking place to suit all ages and abilities, along with illustrated talks and a walkers pub quiz.

The Walkers Are Welcome status confirms the towns reputation as an ideal, welcoming place for visitors to come and enjoy the outdoors and helps to ensure that footpaths and facilities for walkers are maintained in good condition.
