Technology PR:

Orangeburg, S.C. May 30, 2008 -- Zeus, Inc., the leading supplier of high performance fluoropolymer tubing to the global medical device industry, has announced a reengineering of its sales organization. With an eye on accelerating innovation and growth, Zeus is taking a three-faceted approach focused on closer relationships with current accounts, greater penetration of the medical marketplace at large, and new business development.

Zeus established its medical device sales organization more than a decade ago, differentiating itself with technical account teams concentrated on leveraging the many advantages of high performance extruded polymers in the biomedical industry. This coupled with advanced materials science, exacting manufacturing standards and meticulous customer support and follow through, has established Zeus as a preferred R&D and supply partner to many of the world's top medical device companies. Today it supplies precision extruded tubing for catheters, catheter liners, fusing sleeves, stent transfer sleeves, electro cautery devices, and other implantable devices.

Commenting on the announcement, Bob Jennings, Zeus Vice President for Medical Sales and Marketing, says the realignment is a natural evolution of the company's customer-centric sales organization. "The biomedical industry is driven by discovery, research and innovation. As such, companies look for suppliers that bring more to the table--and quite frankly, to the lab--than off-the-shelf products; they want creativity and collaboration. Our new structure will allow us to better understand and support our top accounts and their respective markets as well as accelerate the exploration of new markets while bringing new materials, applications and services to market," he explained.

Jennings adds that Zeus has unique opportunities in the form of contract research and development with advanced materials such as ePTFE, biodegradeable and absorbable polymers. "It's all about maximizing our intellectual capital in ways that advance the efforts of our customers. Our new sales organization creates new 'points of entry' for current and future customers of Zeus."

As part of the realignment, the following people have new or modified assignments:

  • Corporate Accounts. Drew Tyler has been named corporate accounts manager. He is supported by corporate accounts technical account managers Craig Portney and Tom Patterson.
  • Medical Division. Tara McCutchen has been named medical division manager. She is supported by Aubrey Beemer, GI/Endoscopy; Emily Barnes, Cardiovascular; and Jessica Bess, Peripheral/Neurovascular.
  • Business Development. Josh Ridley has been named business development manager, with Lacey Moseley as strategic projects specialist.

The new structure is well timed, says Alan Andrews, Zeus Senior Vice President for Medical Sales and Marketing. "By allocating our intellectual, R&D, manufacturing and logistics resources in a new, more strategic manner, we will bring more value to our customers. And that's exactly what companies are looking for."
