By installing a Java (J2ME) application to your mobile phone and using that to compose and send messages, they will be sent via your phones GPRS, 3G or Wi-Fi connection to the smsroam network where they will be delivered to any mobile network worldwide for just 9 pence.
The service can be used with your existing mobile operator and phone number, and the Java application has been especially designed to keep bandwidth use to a minimum, so sending a single SMS will use less than 1kb of data making data costs negligible, even while roaming.
smsroam support delivery to over 500 networks in over 200 countries, you can schedule messages for later delivery, send flashing SMS and you can check the delivery status of all messages sent. Messages can also be sent directly from the website and they will still be delivered from your mobile number.
While the EU have recently capped the cost of sending SMS while roaming within the EU, this cap does not apply to messages sent abroad while in your home country, while roaming further afield, or for users from outside the EU, for which this service can provide considerable savings over the mobile operators rates.
